There being no objection, it was so ordered. **The presence of Representative Barnes was noted. Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Berkowitz: Page 3, following line 9: Insert a new bill section to read: "* Sec. 5. AS15.07.070(d) is amended to read: (d) Qualified voters may register in person before a registration official or through a voter registration agency at any time throughout the year. A ¦, EXCEPT THAT Aá person registering within 30 days preceding an election may ¦NOTá vote at that election, but may only cast a questioned ballot. Upon receipt and approval of the registration forms, the director or the election supervisor shall forward to the voter an acknowledgment in the form of a registration card, and the voters name shall immediately be placed on the master register located in the office of the director and on the district register located in the office of the election supervisor. Names of persons registering 30 or more days before an election shall be placed on the official registration list for that election." AS15.07.090(b) is amended to read: (b) A voter shall reregister if the voters registration is cancelled as provided in AS15.07.130. The reregistration is effective for the next election; however, if the next election occurs within ¦THAT OCCURS AT LEASTá 30 days after the date of reregistration, the voter may only cast a questioned ballot." Renumber the following bill sections accordingly. Page 32, following line 3: Insert a new bill section to read: "* Sec. 86. AS29.26.050(a) is amended to read: (a) A person may vote in a municipal election only if the person (1) is qualified to vote in state elections under AS15.05.010; (2) has been a resident of the municipality for 30 days immediately preceding the election; (3) is registered to vote in state elections at a residence address within a municipality ¦AT LEAST 30 DAYS BEFORE THE MUNICIPAL ELECTION AT WHICH THE PERSON SEEKS TO VOTEá; and (4) is not disqualified under art. V of the state constitution." Renumber the following bill sections accordingly.
